Countdown Timer

A big, clear countdown clock for whatever you're waiting on — the next 25 minutes, a launch, a birthday, or December 25.

Nothing running yet. Pick minutes, or choose a date — the countdown runs in this tab, goes full screen, and the tab title counts down with it.

How it works

  1. 01

    Enter a length

Set 25 minutes, 2 hours, or 90 seconds.

  2. 02

    Or choose a date

Pick the day and local time you're waiting for.

  3. 03

    Start it

Watch the clock and tab title count down. A chime plays at zero; full screen makes the numbers easier to see.

Keep this tab open and your device awake. Nothing to sign up for, and nothing is saved when you close it.

Use it for

  • Focus sessions

Work for 25 minutes, then take five off. The clock in the tab keeps your remaining time in view.

  • Cooking

Time a six-minute egg or a 12-hour marinade without watching the kitchen clock.

  • Launches and streams

Count down to a drop, a live stream, an update, or a go-live time.

  • Days that matter

See how long until a wedding, exam, birthday, Christmas, or the new year.

Countdown timer questions

What's the difference between a timer and a countdown?

A timer counts down an amount of time you set, such as 10 minutes. A countdown clock can also count down to a fixed moment, such as midnight on January 1. This page does both.

Can I count down to a date instead of minutes?

Yes. The countdown recalculates from the target moment every time the display updates.

  1. Select Count down to a date.
  2. Pick a future date and local time.
  3. Press Start.

Does it keep counting if I close the tab?

No. Keep the tab open and your device awake to see the countdown and hear the chime. Closing the tab clears it. If you need an alert at a particular clock time, use the Online alarm clock

Can I make it full screen?

Yes. Start a countdown and press Full screen. The view shows only the large time; press Escape to return to the page.

Is it free?

Yes. It's free in your browser, with no account, download, or installation.

Online Alarm Clock is a small, quiet set of time tools. The alarm wakes you, the timer keeps you honest, and the countdown tells you how long is left.
